Jacobi-Symbol

Das Jacobi-Symbol ist eine Erweiterung des Legendre-Symbols auf Nenner, die nicht unbedingt prim sein müssen.

Ist die Primfaktorzerlegung von b=p_1^{\nu_1}\cdots p_n^{\nu_n}, so definiert man

\left(\frac{a}{b}\right):=\left(\frac{a}{p_1}\right)^{\nu_1}\cdots \left(\frac{a}{p_n}\right)^{\nu_n},

wobei auf der rechten Seite das Legendre-Symbol steht.

Das Jacobi-Symbol ist benannt nach Carl Gustav Jakob Jacobi.

Achtung: Das Jacobi-Symbol gibt nicht mehr an, ob a ein Quadratischer Rest modulo b ist, wie dies noch beim Legendre-Symbol der Fall war.
